While reading classic poetry from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, I realized that the language is difficult for most people today to understand. Literary classes at school consisted of interpretation, a kind of "translation," of what the poet was saying so that discussion and analysis of the poem could commence.

I started simplifying the poems, translating line-by-line into modern speech that wasn't impaired by its simplicity. This helped quite a few students, and I decided that this would be a good way to promote literature in a modern time when simplicity can enlighten and lead to a better understanding of the complex. So, I hope you enjoy my side-project: Poetry Simplified!
